About
I'm Marianne — a marketing strategist, not a marketing vendor.
Ten-plus years of strategy, delivered where it's actually needed: in the room where the decision gets made.
I've worked in marketing for more than ten years — inside teams, alongside agencies, and shoulder to shoulder with owners who had nobody senior to check their thinking against. That range is the point. I've seen what happens when a good idea meets a bad plan, and what happens when a plain idea meets a sharp one.
My work sits across the three words in my own logo: brand, marketing and strategy. Brand is who you are and why anyone should care. Marketing is how that reaches people. Strategy is the discipline of choosing — deciding what you'll do, in what order, and what you'll deliberately leave alone. Most of the businesses I meet are not short of ideas. They're short of sequencing.
I'm based in High River, Alberta, and work with clients across Canada, the US and Brazil. Everything is delivered remotely — video sessions and async review — so where you sit matters far less than whether the working relationship is right. Locally, I work with a lot of owners in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks, Edmonton, Lethbridge and the surrounding communities, and because I'm fluent in both English and Portuguese, I also consult with Portuguese-speaking and Brazilian-founded businesses in whichever language they think best in.
Three things I believe, and you'll hear all of them from me eventually. Strategy comes before tactics — a channel plan without a positioning decision behind it is just activity. Clarity beats volume — one message repeated well outperforms five messages competing for the same attention. And the best marketing decision is often the one you stop doing; a lot of my value is in giving you permission to kill something that's quietly draining budget.
I'm direct. If your idea won't work, I'll say so, and I'll say why, and then I'll tell you what I'd do instead. I'd rather send you away with one decision you can act on this week than a beautiful document that gets skimmed once.
How I work
Five principles I don't negotiate on.
- Positioning first. We don't discuss channels until we agree on what you stand for.
- Plain language. If I can't explain the recommendation in a sentence, it isn't finished.
- Fewer, better moves. I'd rather you do three things properly than eleven things partly.
- Everything is written down. You keep the reasoning, not just the conclusion.
- Confidentiality is the default — especially on white-label work for agencies.

Bring the problem you're circling. We'll spend the call on that, not on a pitch.
